It is a 1969 Crusader
Yes! discovered the year. Built by Munro before they combined with Caravans International.
But boy was it's frame rotten. I have totally rebuilt the internal frame and replaced the interior lining. It is now having the furniture built to the same layout as "Gipsy"
WOW! your Caravan looks great! We have just bought an old Crusader, trying to find out year. I thought maybe early 70's, but looking at yours could be 69 too. Hubby has completey gutted it and found a lot of rot like yours too, so will now replace wood (he's a builder). Think you did an amzing job. We plan to keep ours quite original, but will be hard finding replacement lino etc. Would like to know what your original colour was, we think ours was mustard yellow. Cheers, Angela.
Hi Angela. Have a look at the book Vantastic. There is a photo of a 15ft6" new Crusader. This will show how & the types of colours that were on these old caravans. Cheers. Paul.
I am a f-fifty year old Boatbuilder who has fallen in love with: 1st Caravaning, 2nd Caravans; particularly New Zealand caravans. I restore, and bring the older caravans into the 21st century. Retaining the nostaliga.
The caravan in the photo is a 1969 Crusader, about to be bought into the 21st centry with all the comforts of home.
Shown is a 1973 Gipsy that has undergone this treatment.
Don't you just love it.
Any questions discussion or ideas all welcome!!
I've been looking for a mobile home businesses of late so we can spend more time touring. Give us a shout if you have something that I might be interested in.
